My favourite Nude (1)

Nope not that kind of nude I'm afraid...

I'm a create of habit when it comes to lip colours. I tend to go for Nudes and pinks. Occasionally I branch out to a red, coral or a plum eek!!! I find that Nudes & pinks suit my skintone the best. Whilst I was going through and swatched I realsied I had two groups of nudes, Brown tone and pink toned so I decided to split my nudes post into two. This post is about the brown toned nudes.

Honey Love

This has been my go to for a while now. I love this shade. On my lips its looks so natural. The only thing I dislike is that it is matte but I just chuck a bit of lip balm over this and I'm good to go.

Naked

Another nice shade. Bit more of a 60's lipstick, looks good with a smoky eye. Doesn't really need any balm over it and wears well.
Hue

A nice neutral shade. Goes on well. As its a glaze it looks quite shiny on its own.

Nude Delight

A good everyday nude. Quite moisturising and lasts a good while. This is the perfect my lips but better colour.I find this similar to Honey Love, just more moisturising. Has a bit of a plastic smell but doesn't last for long.
Freckletone

I have blogged about this before link. This is a great nude, good finish. This has a bit more of an orange tone to it but is a firm favourite.

Bare minimum

I tend to use this with all of my nudes as its only slightly tinted so doesnt alter the colour too much and isn't too greasy feeling on the lips. I hate that it is in a pot but just tend to use a cotton bud or a lip brush.

Prices and stockists/links are as follows:

MAC lipsticks retail at £13.50 and can be purchased from MAC
Sleek True colour lipsticks retail at £4.00 and can be purchased instore from Superdrug & online from sleek.

Well thats part 1 over look out for part 2...

MAC Strobe Cream

I purchased this when when I felt I needed a change from my Benefit High Beam & Moon Beam. I wanted something that gave a more natural look. This works very well.Packaging is typical MAC, not too showy the bottle is squeezy which is great for hygiene but a little too much can come out at times especially when the bottle is nearly used up.This could be mixed with moisturiser or foundation. I would not suggest applying this alone unless you like the Twilight look. When worked it creates an iridescent finish which helps brighten up the skin.In terms of application I apply this with a foundation brush but have used my fingers and a stippling brush and find I get the same results. The cream can also be applied to certain areas of the face i.e brow bone, nose, cupids bow & cheeks. You could probably mix this with your body moisturiser. This works fine under foundation, there is no annoying pilling you get with some products and I haven't broken out as yet.

If you want the brightening effect but want a more lightweight product then would probably opt for the strobe liquid £21.50 for 50ml.

Strobe cream can be purchased from MAC for £12.00 for 30ml

Mac Freckletone

I first came across this after a terrible run in with Mac Myth. I had been dying to try out the nude lip unfortunately Myth left me looking a little corpse - ish. On a random trip to a Mac counter in Palma I purchased Freckletone. Now on first look it seems very uninspiring but it is imo a perfect nude. Freckletone has quickly become my HG nude. I currently have about two bullets of this on the go as I am forever losing one of them - this is the seriousness of my love for this lipstick. As you will see from the pictures Freckletone is well loved in this household.

In the tube, this can be a bit daunting but once swatched you'll see it is peach toned. This shade is easily buildable however will not give opaque coverage. Compared to say Myth this is a much more warm, natural colour. I tend to find nudes are either too brown, too orange or resemble concealer when applied (never a good look!). I generally get about 2/3 hours of this depending on what I'm doing (i.e eating, talking), the weather, condition of my lips. Freckletone is a lustre finish meaning its not highly pigmented but as I have mentioned is buildable. Lustre lipsticks are much more moisturising than other finishes. I can vouch for this as I get terribly dry lips and my lips have never felt dried after using this.

Not sure why but I don't think Freckletone gets enough coverage as its such a wonderful shade and is perfect for wearing during the day. It also looks great when paired with heavier eye make up.

Freckletone is available from MAC priced at £13.50

MAC Studio Sculpt Spf 15

This has been my foundation since 2009. I love this but have found that the colours just don't match me anymore and I'm too lazy to mix them up but it is fantastic and I'm sure I'll use it when I am a bit less paler.

"A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant."

I love the texture and coverage of this foundation. Its a gel and a little goes a long way. It has a slightly dewy finish. Coverage can be built up and I find it doesn't transfer very easily. I set it with some MAC finishing MAC prep & prime finishing powder  and it lasts all day (well over 8 hours at least) on my combination/dry skin. This can be worn over moisturisers and primers without that annoying pilling effect you can get.I also have large pores and it doesn't expose them!!

This works best for me when I moisturise, apply with my Real Techniques buffing brush and then set with MAC Prep & Prime finishing powder.

Price wise I think this is a bit expensive at £23 (!) For 40ml but it lasts me about 6 months (I don't use foundation everyday probably 4-5 days a week). Of course this will vary person to person. Packaging is really good, I hate the glass bottles and the fact you have to buy a pump (at extra cost). This comes in a squeezy, plastic bottle and its so very easy to control how much you want...of course the downside is if you squeeze too much out you can't put it back.

Available from MAC £23.00 for 40ml (23 shades available)
